Often massage, prostatitis doesn’t bother you

“Massaging the prostate at home can treat chronic prostatitis.” A few days ago, the reporter heard many patients say this in the interview. Can prostate massage be done at home? Zhang Yaqiang, chief physician of the urology department of Guang’anmen Hospital of the Chinese Academy of traditional Chinese medicine, believes that self massage of the prostate to treat chronic prostatitis does have a certain effect, but not everyone can apply it. If you blindly massage, it will aggravate the condition.

Dr. Zhang explained that prostate massage therapy is an auxiliary therapy to relieve the accumulation of prostatic secretion, improve local blood circulation, and promote the absorption and resolution of inflammation by regularly massaging the prostate to drain prostatic fluid and discharge inflammatory substances.

Since most of the patients with chronic prostatitis are middle-aged people, old and young, they have a lot of things to do every day. They take time to go to the hospital for special massage every week, which is not realistic for many patients, so some patients do self massage at home. In fact, for patients with full, soft prostate and more secretions, self massage is a simple and effective method.

However, the following situations should not be massaged: patients suspected of prostate tuberculosis and tumor; Acute attack of chronic prostatitis; Patients with prostatic atrophy or sclerosis. In self massage, it should be noted that if you find that the prostate tenderness is obvious and the cystic sensation is enhanced, you should go to the hospital in time. The prostate self massage treatment is only an auxiliary treatment method, which can not completely replace other treatments.

According to Dr. Zhang, during massage, the patient takes down the squatting position or the lateral flexion position, cleans the anus after defecation, puts on the finger sleeve on the index finger of one hand and lubricates it with soapy water, extends it into the anus, points the last knuckle of the index finger at the rectal surface of the prostate, and gently presses the prostate from the outside to the inside in order. First, press the prostate from both sides of the gland to the middle line for 3-4 times, and then squeeze out the prostatic fluid from the central groove from top to bottom to the outer mouth of the urethra.

Massage for 3-5 minutes each time. It is better to have prostatic fluid discharged from the urethra every time. The massage must be gentle. The interval between each massage treatment is at least 3 days. Generally, massage 1-2 times a week. After massage, the patient should urinate immediately, so that the inflammatory secretions remaining in the urethra can be discharged with urine.

Dr. Zhang reminded patients, “massage pays attention to the accuracy of strength and position. If these two items are not in place, the efficacy will obviously be greatly reduced. Patients who are going to massage at home should fully communicate with doctors.”
