Sub health in modern medicine

Sub health refers to non disease and non health state, which is a kind of second-class health state (sub-health means second-class), which is the state between health and disease, so it has the titles of “sub-health”, “third state”, “intermediate state”, “free (moving) state” and “gray state”. It is a state of low physiological function between disease and health. Sub-health is also a precursor of many diseases, such as hepatitis, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, metabolic diseases and so on. There are six highs and one low in sub-health people, namely, high load (psychological and physical), hypertension, hyperlipidemia, hyperglycemia, high body weight and low immune function.

In detail, sub-health is a big concept, which includes several stages that are connected before and after. Among them, the one closely adjacent to health can be called “mild psychosomatic disorder”, which is often characterized by fatigue, insomnia, poor appetite and emotional instability. However, these disorders are easy to recover, and they are no different from healthy people after recovery. It accounts for about 25% ~ 28% of the population.

If this disorder continues to develop, it can enter a “latent clinical” state. At this time, it has shown a high-risk tendency to develop into some diseases, and there is a high possibility of developing into a certain disease. Among the population, more than 1 / 3 are in this state, and the proportion increases sharply in the population over 40 years old. Their performance is complex, which can be chronic fatigue or continuous psychosomatic disorder, including the above-mentioned symptoms lasting for more than 2 months, and often accompanied by chronic sore throat, repeated colds, and lack of energy. Some experts also summarized its complex performance into three types: decreased vitality, reaction ability and adaptability. From the clinical tests, such groups in cities tend to show a tendency of “three high and one low”, that is, there are near critical levels of hyperlipidemia, hyperglycemia, high blood viscosity and low immune function.

In addition, at least more than 10% of people are between preclinical and disease, which can be called “preclinical” status, which means that there are lesions, but the symptoms are not obvious or have not attracted enough attention, or have not been diagnosed, or even if the doctor has made an examination, they have not been found yet. Strictly speaking, the last category is no longer sub-health, but an unhealthy state with disease, which just needs to be clearly diagnosed. Therefore, after deducting this part of the population, many researchers believe that sub-health people account for about 60% of the population.

Studies at home and abroad show that in modern society, those who meet the health standards only account for about 15% of the total population. Interestingly, about 15% of the population have been diagnosed with disease and belong to unhealthy status. If health and disease are regarded as the two ends of the life process, then it is like an olive with two pointed ends and a large protruding part in the middle, which is in the transitional state between health and disease – sub-health.
