Teenagers should be on guard against stomach cancer

Few people think that gastric cancer, the “cancer boss”, is the disease of middle-aged and old people, but the actual situation is not so. Many hospitals in China reported that gastric cancer in young people under 35 years old accounted for 6% ~ 11% of the total number of gastric cancer. According to the rough calculation of the mortality rate of gastric cancer in China, about 9000-10000 young people are killed by “cancer boss” every year!

1. More women

The sex ratio of gastric cancer in middle-aged and old people is 3 ∶ 2, while that in young people is 1 ∶ 1, and even more women than men. Some female patients were diagnosed with ovarian cancer and “followed the vine and felt the melon” to find out gastric cancer. This phenomenon may be related to the endocrine activities of women in this age group.

2. More atypical symptoms

If the symptoms of gastric cancer in the middle-aged and old people are not typical, such as epigastric distension and pain, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, weight loss and other symptoms, which can be seen in a variety of gastrointestinal diseases and systemic diseases, then the symptoms of young people are even less typical. This phenomenon may be related to the physique and strong tolerance of young people.

3. Missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis

The rate of missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis is as high as 27%, that is to say, there is one missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis in every four people. Young people’s gastric cancer is often labeled gastritis, ulcer disease, and indigestion. They make mistakes again and again. Sometimes, even though they have gastroscopy or barium meal fluoroscopy, they may not be able to find any traces of gastric cancer.

4. More malignant

This is for the pathological characteristics of tumors. Among young people, mucinous adenocarcinoma and poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma with higher malignant degree account for more than middle-aged and old people.

The reason for the patient is that he is young, careless, and does not go to the examination in time; Preconceived ideas and lack of detail are the reasons for medical staff’s missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis.

Young people, please be alert!
