Alert to the 10 taboos of sleep and reduce insomnia

Adequate sleep is very important to the health of the elderly. According to relevant data, the elderly need at least 6 hours of sleep every day. In addition, pay special attention to some taboos in sleep preparation, posture and habits:

、 Avoid eating before going to bed: after a person enters the sleep state, the activity rhythm of some parts of the body slows down and enters the rest state. If they eat before going to bed, their intestines and stomachs will be busy again, which will increase their burden and prevent other parts of their bodies from getting a good rest, which will not only affect their sleep but also damage their health.

、 Avoid talking before going to bed: because talking too much is easy to excite the brain and activate the mind, which makes it difficult to fall asleep.

、 Avoid using your brain too much before going to bed: if you have the habit of working and studying at night, you should finish the more troublesome work in advance. Before going to bed, you should do something easier to relax your brain, so that you can easily fall asleep. Otherwise, the brain is in an excited state, and it is difficult to fall asleep even when lying in bed, and it is easy to lose sleep after a long time.

、 Avoid emotional excitement before going to bed: People’s emotions are easy to cause excitement or disorder of the nerve center, making it difficult for people to sleep, and even causing insomnia. Therefore, before going to bed, try to avoid being angry or worried, so as to stabilize your mood.

、 Avoid drinking strong tea and coffee before going to bed: strong tea and coffee are stimulant drinks, which contain caffeine and other substances that can make people excited. It is easy to fall asleep after drinking them before going to bed.

、 Avoid sleeping with your mouth open: when you sleep with your mouth open, viruses and bacteria in the air are easy to enter, causing “diseases to enter through the mouth”, and also easy to stimulate your lungs and stomach by cold air and dust, causing diseases.

、 Avoid sleeping with your head covered: old people are generally afraid of the cold, so some old people like sleeping with their heads covered. In this way, due to the large amount of carbon dioxide inhaled and exhaled by oneself, and the lack of necessary oxygen supplement, it is extremely unfavorable to the body.

、 Avoid sleeping on your back: the best position to sleep is to lie on your right side, so that the bones and muscles of the whole body are in a natural relaxed state, which is easy to fall asleep and eliminate fatigue. Supine position will make the bones and muscles of the whole body still in a tense state, which is not conducive to eliminating fatigue, but also easy to cause nightmares due to hands resting on the chest, affecting the quality of sleep.

、 Avoid sleeping with your eyes on the light: when you sleep, your eyes are closed, but you can still feel the light. Sleeping in front of the light is easy to make people uneasy and difficult to fall asleep, and even if they fall asleep, they are easy to wake up.

、 Avoid sleeping when the wind blows: keep the air flowing in the room, but don’t let the wind directly blow on you. Because after a person falls asleep, his body’s adaptability to the external environment decreases. If he sleeps in the wind for a long time, cold air will invade his body, causing colds, wind colds and other diseases.
